His Splendid Tables is a collection of hybrid writing combining wayward translation and poetic essay to explore, variously, what is lost and what is gained in the elegiac process, and unremembered myths and histories of feminized people.
'Borstal Unthrum Loom' interweaves a translation of Moschus’ ‘Lament for Bion’ into an extinct Kentish dialect, with found material from the Assize trial records of Kentish witches and later writings thereon, to consider the social construction of the witch, and the treatment of women labelled, tried and executed as such, and to examine the poetics and dynamics of the pastoral.
'fey' explores and resists representations of feminized bodies in various iterations, from Arthurian texts, of the mythical figure of Morgan le Fay, to explore how the multiple meanings of the term 'fey' link femininity with illness, disorder, whimsy, the supernatural and death.
"Perry's mythscape is a dappled and torn document, both rich and bereft." (Megan Zword)
